Mario Prisuelos premieres the Second Piano Concerto of Navarre

José María Goicoechea

On March 22 and 23, the great Madrid pianist Mario Prisuelos will premiere under the button of Josep Caballé Domenech the absolute premiere of the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 by José María Goicoechea finished in 2011, aged 87. The program will be completed with the Symphony No. 4 in E flat major "Romantica" by Anton Bruckner.

Better known as Father Goicoechea, the composer, organist, choir director and thinker born in Bera, he is one of the main figures of Navarre music of the second half of the 20th century. Goicoechea has composed numerous innovative symphonic scores and in which he has manifested his constant interest in exploring original sound paths. With great intelligence and a tireless spirit he has followed the direct line of musical evolution from the Second School of Vienna, through Darmstadt and developing the integral serial technique in a personal and accessible to the public. The premiere of this work is one more step towards the recognition that the recently deceased composer from Navarre deserves and to which the Baluarte Foundation pays homage in its new season. Fortunately, several works are currently being prepared for the critical edition of their scores.
